Get Involved
Join the PTA
When you join the Burning Tree PTA, you become part of a powerful collective voice that advocates for our students, staff, and school community. Together, we champion causes important to Burning Tree and fellow cluster schools. We are a stronger community when all families participate in the PTA.
As a PTA member, you will:
Become part of an engaged network of families and educators.
Receive a printed copy of the BT School Directory which includes class rosters, student, family and staff contact information, school calendar, school policies, and much more.
Gain access to the AtoZ/Membership Toolkit mobile app, giving you valuable information while on the go!
Participate in meetings throughout the school year with school administrators, as well as PTA-sponsored conversations with experts.
**Your $45 membership with BT PTA also includes membership to MCCPTA, Maryland PTA and the National PTA.
Donate/Fundraising
With your support, the PTA is able to fund student enrichment opportunities, curriculum development, staff and teacher training, cultural education, reading and language arts materials, community building events and much more.
There are several opportunities to support the PTA throughout the year:
Boosterthon
Spring Auction
Dine-Outs
Book Fair
Mabel's Labels: Search for "Burning Tree ES PTA" and our PTA will receive 20% of any orders!
Volunteer
Volunteering is a great way to meet other parents, spend time with teachers, and share experiences with your children at school. The key to our success is in the donation of your time and talents!
Over the course of the school year, there are many ways to get involved. This can range from an hour or two at home or at a school event, to larger commitments organizing particular events or serving on the PTA Board.
Available opportunities are flexible enough to accommodate any schedule, interest, or skill-set.
See below for more information about volunteering, including training requirements for certain opportunities, and look out for emails asking for volunteers throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact the Vice President of Volunteers at volunteers@burningtreepta.org.

SSL Hours
For day-of event volunteers, we often have opportunities for students to earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. Students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate from high school and can start earning SSL hours the summer after grade 5. We will send out requests for SSL volunteers prior to these events. For more information on SSL hours including the form to fill out, visit the MCPS website.
If you are interested in volunteering, please read through the Volunteer Requirement FAQs.
